Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about launching on Flamas.
What is Flamas?
+
Flamas is a launch board that measures whether your launch worked. You list a product, it goes live on a daily board ranked by upvotes, and then the platform keeps checking: whether people actually wanted it, whether your site still answers months later, and whether anyone ended up contacting you. It also runs the other direction, where people post problems they would pay to have solved and makers compete to answer them.
Is Flamas free?
+
Yes. A free launch gets a full listing, a day on the board, upvotes, comments, and a link back to your site. You pay for timing and for reach: picking your exact launch date, testing taglines on launch day, or buying the contact details of people who asked to be reached. The dofollow link is not on that list. It is earned, not sold.
What is a want?
+
A want is a problem somebody posted that they would pay to have solved, with a budget band. Other people add a +1 to say they want it too, and the board shows how many are waiting and what they said they would pay. It is the demand side of the market: instead of guessing what to build, you can read what people are already asking for.
How does a want get answered?
+
Makers enter a product, or anyone can put forward somebody else's and its owner decides whether to enter. The first confirmed candidate starts a 30-day race. Anyone signed in votes on which one fits, and "nothing here fits" is a real option. A candidate wins only if it clears 10 votes, beats that veto, and beats the runner-up outright. Anything else, and the want is published as demand nobody served.
Who decides which product answers a want?
+
The people reading it, never one person. The author of a want votes like anybody else and cannot accept a product, close the race, or pick a winner. Nobody with a product in a race may vote in it, and an account created after a candidate entered cannot vote on it. Nothing is awarded by default: a race with four candidates and nine votes ends with no answer.
How do credits work?
+
One credit is $1. You buy them once and spend them on what you need: 29 for a premium launch, 15 for an extra relaunch. There is no subscription, and unspent credits stay in your account.
How do I get a dofollow backlink?
+
You earn it, and you cannot buy it. Four things have to be true: you have claimed the listing by proving you control the domain, your site is answering our checks, it has been answering for 30 days, and you have had a launch day that is over. Meet all four and the link becomes dofollow on its own. Stop answering and it goes back to nofollow the same day. We sell timing, placement and contacts; we do not sell links, because a link that can be bought is worth nothing to the person who buys it.
How is the board ranked?
+
By upvotes from people who are on the site that day, capped at 5 per person per day so one enthusiastic account cannot decide the board. For the first hours of a launch day, products are shown in rotating order so nobody is punished for the timezone they live in. Paying never buys rank, upvotes or links, only timing and placement.
What is the launch queue?
+
Free launches do not pick a date. Each day has 7 free slots and 8 paid ones, and a free launch takes the next day with an opening. A premium launch skips the queue and picks its exact date. The day resets at 8:00 UTC.
Can I relaunch my product?
+
Yes, after a 28-day cooldown. Every premium launch includes one relaunch; after that it costs 15 credits. A relaunch gives a product that has actually moved on a fresh day, rather than letting the same listing sit on the board forever.
What is the pulse on every listing?
+
We request each listed product's site on a schedule and publish what happened: alive, unstable, or dead with the date it stopped answering. A product is only called dead after 3 consecutive failures and at least 72 hours unreachable, so a deploy or a brief outage does not bury anyone. A site that stops answering loses its dofollow link, and a dead one moves to the graveyard, which stays public because a directory that quietly hides its failures is not worth reading.
Does the AI write my listing?
+
It writes the first draft. Paste your product URL and we read the page to pre-fill the name, tagline, description, category and image. You review and edit all of it, and nothing is published without you pressing publish. The AI removes the blank page, it does not decide what your product is.
What happens to my email address?
+
Nothing you did not agree to. Signing in never puts you on a list a maker can buy. Contact details are only ever shared when you explicitly tick the box on a want saying a maker who answers it may email you, the exact wording you agreed to is stored with the timestamp, and you can revoke it at any time. A revoked address disappears from a list a maker has already bought.
Who is Flamas for?
+
Solo founders and small teams who want to know whether a launch did anything, not just that it happened. It is also for people who are not building anything: posting a problem you would pay to solve, or voting on which product answers somebody else's, needs no product of your own.
