How Flamas works

Two directions. Makers launch products and find out whether it worked. Everyone else posts problems worth paying to solve, and decides which product answers them.

If you built something

  1. 1

    Paste your product URL

We read the page and pre-fill your listing: name, tagline, description, category and image. You review and edit all of it, and nothing publishes until you say so. Free for everyone.

  2. 2

    Choose free or premium

A free launch takes the next day with an opening: 7 free slots a day. A premium launch (29 credits) picks its exact date, tests its taglines, keeps the contacts of people who ask to be reached, and includes one relaunch.

  3. 3

Go live on the daily board

The day resets at 8:00 UTC. For the first hours products are shown in rotating order, so nobody is punished for the timezone they live in, and then the board ranks by upvotes. Each person has 5 upvotes a day.

  4. 4

Find out who actually wanted it

Visitors can say they would try it and, if they choose, leave an email. You get people who answered rather than a number, with the exact consent wording and timestamp recorded, and anyone can revoke it.

  5. 5

    Keep your pulse alive

We keep requesting your site after launch day and publish what we find. Stay up and your listing earns its dofollow link and can reach the still-alive board. Stop answering for 72 hours and it moves to the graveyard, which is public.

If you want something built

No product required, and no company. This side of the board is the demand side.

  1. 1

    Somebody posts a problem

A want is a problem worth paying to solve, with a budget band. It needs no product and no company: if you have been wishing something existed, that is the whole entry requirement.

  2. 2

    Other people add a +1

Each +1 is one person saying they want it too, and they can say what they would pay. The board shows the count and the middle of those answers, so a maker reads demand instead of guessing at it.

  3. 3

    Makers enter a product

A maker enters their own product, or anyone puts forward somebody else's and its owner decides whether to enter it. Each candidate writes its own case for why it answers the want.

  4. 4

A race runs for 30 days

The first confirmed candidate starts the clock. Anyone signed in votes on which one fits, and "nothing here fits" is a real answer rather than an abstention. The person who posted the want votes once, like everybody else.

  5. 5

The crowd decides, or nobody does

A candidate wins only if it clears 10 votes, beats the veto, and beats the runner-up outright. Anything else and the want is published as demand nobody served, which is the most useful page here if you are deciding what to build next.

Start from either side

Listing a product is free. So is posting what you wish existed.
