Automatically correct capitalization in BibTeX entries
Developer ToolsThe ask
Users struggle with inconsistent capitalization in reference lists generated from BibTeX. Specifically, terms that should always be capitalized, like proper nouns or acronyms, often appear in lowercase. An example is 'chatgpt' appearing instead of 'ChatGPT'. This issue is prevalent across thousands of BibTeX entries, which are used in various LaTeX projects. Each project may also use different formatting styles, compounding the problem. Manually editing each BibTeX entry to add curly brackets, which preserve capitalization, is a time consuming and impractical solution given the large number of entries. A software tool is needed to automate this correction process.
