The ask

Many individuals maintain extensive media collections or archives on cold storage devices. Accessing these files is infrequent, and keeping the storage constantly online is unnecessary or inefficient. A common challenge is knowing what content resides on these drives when they are not physically connected. Users need a system to catalog their offline storage. This system should display file names, their original locations on the disconnected drives, and relevant metadata. An option to include visual identifiers, like icons, would also be beneficial for quick identification. The primary function of such a tool is to provide an inventory view. It does not need to handle the actual process of moving files to or from cold storage, as users often have separate methods for this. The focus is purely on enabling intelligent browsing of contents that are physically inaccessible.

Know something that already answers this?

Put it forward. It joins the ballot only if its maker enters it, so nobody is entered into a race they did not choose.
