Streamline API regression test creation and dependency mocking to reduce manual effort
Developer ToolsThe ask
Current API regression test suites require significant manual effort to maintain as endpoints evolve. Developers spend too much time updating Postman collections and writing assertions by hand. Moreover, manually created mocks for downstream services, such as databases and third-party APIs, frequently drift from real behavior. This leads to inaccurate testing against outdated stubs. A solution should automatically generate API test cases by recording actual requests and responses. It should also create accurate stubs for dependencies using the same recorded traffic. The tool must run headless in CI environments, like GitHub Actions, and be compatible with Linux. It should handle noisy fields in responses, such as timestamps and random IDs, gracefully without requiring code changes in microservices.
